Frequently Asked Questions
Earnings & Commissions
How much can I earn as an FPW Agent?
You earn ₦5,000 one-time onboarding fee for every verified station you recruit, plus monthly recurring commission based on your tier. Tier 1 (0-24 stations): 5%, Tier 2 (25-49 stations): 7%, Tier 3 (50+ stations): 10%. For example, an Elite Agent (Tier 3) with 50 stations (25 Premium, 25 Premium Plus) earns ₦375,000/month in recurring commissions plus ₦250,000 in one-time onboarding fees.
How does the tier system work?
Your commission rate increases automatically as you recruit more verified stations. Start at Tier 1 Junior Agent (5%), reach 25 verified stations for Tier 2 Senior Agent (7%), and 50+ verified stations for Tier 3 Elite Agent (10%). Tier upgrades are automatic and your dashboard shows progress to the next tier.
What's the difference between Premium and Premium Plus plans?
Premium Plan stations pay ₦50,000/month subscription. Premium Plus stations pay ₦100,000/month. Your commission percentage (based on your tier) applies to these amounts. A Tier 1 agent earns ₦2,500/month from Premium or ₦5,000/month from Premium Plus. A Tier 3 agent earns ₦5,000/month from Premium or ₦10,000/month from Premium Plus.
When and how do I get paid?
Onboarding fees (₦5,000) are paid within 7 days after each recruited station is verified and goes live. Monthly recurring commissions are paid between the 5th-10th of each month for all active subscriptions. Minimum payout threshold is ₦25,000. Payments are made via bank transfer or mobile money. Track all earnings in your agent dashboard.
Is the ₦5,000 onboarding fee paid once or monthly?
The ₦5,000 onboarding fee is a ONE-TIME payment per verified station. However, monthly recurring commissions (5-10% based on your tier) are paid EVERY MONTH for as long as the station maintains an active Premium or Premium Plus subscription. This creates sustainable passive income.
Can I earn from stations that don't subscribe to premium plans?
You earn the ₦5,000 one-time onboarding fee for ALL verified stations, regardless of subscription status. However, monthly recurring commissions only apply to stations with active Premium (₦50,000/month) or Premium Plus (₦100,000/month) subscriptions.
What happens to my commissions if a station cancels their premium subscription?
Your monthly recurring commission stops when a station cancels or downgrades to the free plan. However, you keep all previously earned commissions. Focus on providing excellent support to stations to maximize retention and long-term recurring income.
Training & Certification
How long does the training take?
The complete FPW Agent Training Academy consists of 3 modules totaling approximately 2-4 hours of study material. Module 1: Introduction to FPW (3 lessons), Module 2: Station Recruitment Techniques (3 lessons), Module 3: Platform Navigation & Station Onboarding (2 lessons). Study at your own pace. The final certification exam takes 45 minutes.
What is the pass mark for certification?
You must score 80% or higher on the final assessment to receive certification. This rigorous standard ensures only qualified professionals represent Fuel Price Watch. The exam covers fuel industry knowledge, recruitment techniques, objection handling, and platform operations.
Can I retake the exam if I fail?
Yes. You have THREE attempts to pass the certification exam. There is a 24-hour cooldown period between attempts. This allows you to review the training material and improve your understanding before retrying. Most serious candidates pass on the first or second attempt.
What topics are covered in the training?
Module 1 covers FPW fundamentals, Nigerian fuel market dynamics (subsidy removal, Dangote Refinery impact, pricing mechanisms), and your agent role. Module 2 teaches preparation strategies, perfect pitching using proven frameworks (AIDA, SPIN), and objection handling. Module 3 covers station registration process, dashboard navigation, commission tracking, and supporting stations through verification.
Do I get a certificate after completing training?
Yes! Upon passing the certification exam with 80% or higher, you receive an official FPW Agent Certificate (downloadable PDF), a unique agent code, and dashboard access credentials. Your certificate demonstrates your expertise to filling station owners.
Requirements & Qualifications
Do I need prior experience in the fuel industry?
No prior fuel industry experience is required. Our comprehensive training covers all necessary knowledge including fuel terminology (PMS, AGO, DPK), market dynamics, regulatory framework (NMDPRA, NUPRC), key players (NNPC, Dangote, IPMAN, MEMAN), and pricing mechanisms. However, sales or business development experience is advantageous.
What equipment do I need?
Essential: (1) Smartphone with internet access capable of running the FPW agent app, (2) Reliable mobile data or Wi-Fi connectivity, (3) Professional appearance and business attire. Recommended: Portable charger, business cards, printed FPW brochures, and transportation for station visits.
What are the age requirements?
You must be at least 18 years old to apply as an FPW Agent. There is no maximum age limit. We welcome motivated professionals of all ages who meet the qualification standards.
Can I work as an agent part-time?
Absolutely! FPW agents work independently with complete schedule flexibility. Many successful agents work part-time (10-15 hours/week) while balancing other commitments like studies or employment. Part-time agents typically onboard 5-10 stations monthly. Full-time agents (30-40 hours/week) can onboard 20+ stations monthly.
Do I need to live in Lagos?
No. While FPW launched in Lagos, we're expanding nationwide. Agents can operate in any Nigerian city or state where filling stations exist. Your agent status and skills transfer if you relocate. We're actively recruiting agents in Abuja, Port Harcourt, Kano, Ibadan, and all 36 states.
Agent Operations
Is there a monthly target?
No mandatory monthly targets. You work independently at your own pace with complete autonomy. Recruit as many or as few stations as you want. However, recruiting more stations increases your tier and commission rate, plus builds sustainable recurring income. Top agents set personal goals: beginners target 5-10 stations/month, intermediate 10-20, advanced 20+.
How do I find stations to recruit?
Use multiple strategies: (1) Your agent dashboard identifies unlisted stations via geolocation, (2) Google Maps and business directories, (3) Physical territory mapping and observation, (4) IPMAN/MEMAN association networks, (5) Referrals from satisfied station owners. Focus on high-traffic locations, competitive areas, and underserved regions for best results.
What if a station refuses to join?
Refusals are normal in field sales. Handle professionally: (1) Still collect publicly displayed prices unless explicitly objected, (2) Record station details and mark as 'not onboarded', (3) Schedule follow-up visit after addressing concerns, (4) Understand refusal reasons (timing, trust, misunderstanding) to improve future approach. Many initial refusals convert after follow-up.
How long does station verification take?
Station verification typically takes 48-72 hours after document submission. FPW team reviews NMDPRA license, CAC registration, and station photos. Stations receive email notification when verified. Critical: Stations must update prices in their dashboard before going live to customers. Follow up within 24 hours of verification to guide this step.
What documents do stations need to register?
Required documents: (1) Valid NMDPRA License (petroleum retail license), (2) CAC Document (Corporate Affairs Commission registration), (3) Three station photos (front view, fuel pumps, price display board). Also needed: Station name, address, state, LGA, Google Maps coordinates, contact information. Help stations photograph documents during your visit.
Can I recruit stations outside my state?
Yes! There are no geographic restrictions. You can recruit stations anywhere in Nigeria. However, focus on areas you can physically visit for onboarding and support. Some agents successfully manage remote territories using phone/WhatsApp for follow-up after initial in-person visits.
What support do I get as an agent?
Comprehensive support includes: (1) Agent dashboard with CRM and analytics, (2) Training materials and pitch scripts, (3) WhatsApp/phone helpline, (4) Email technical support, (5) Agent community forum, (6) Monthly webinars and Q&A sessions, (7) Regional agent meetups, (8) Performance coaching for top performers.
Station Onboarding Process
What counts as a successfully onboarded station?
A station is successfully onboarded when ALL conditions are met: (1) Station understands FPW's value proposition, (2) Station consents to being listed, (3) Complete station details captured in app, (4) Station marked active and verified by FPW, (5) Station agrees to regular price updates, (6) Station has functioning dashboard profile. Most importantly: Station must update prices to go live.
How long does the onboarding process take?
With all documents ready, onboarding takes 10-15 minutes during your station visit. Timeline: (1) Account creation: 2 minutes, (2) Email verification: 1-2 minutes, (3) Form completion and document upload: 5-10 minutes, (4) Submission and payment: 2 minutes. Then 48-72 hours for FPW verification. Total from visit to going live: 3-4 days with proper follow-up.
What is the ₦5,000 station onboarding fee?
The ₦5,000 is a one-time registration fee paid by the station (not the agent) during signup. This fee covers verification processing, platform setup, and initial support. It's a small investment for stations to gain access to thousands of active customers. This is separate from your ₦5,000 agent commission.
What happens after a station is verified?
Critical workflow: (1) Station receives verification email with dashboard credentials, (2) YOU must contact station within 24 hours, (3) Guide them through first dashboard login, (4) Help them update fuel prices (PMS, AGO, DPK), (5) Verify station appears live in public app, (6) Screenshot and send confirmation. Without price update, station won't appear to customers despite being verified.
How do I convince stations to upgrade to premium plans?
Don't push premium during initial onboarding. Let stations experience free listing benefits for 2-4 weeks first. Then follow up highlighting: (1) Priority listing in search results, (2) Analytics showing views and clicks, (3) Logo display and branding, (4) Customer review management, (5) Competitive advantage. Show ROI: increased visibility = more customers = higher revenue justifies ₦50k-100k/month investment.
Market & Competition
How many filling stations are in Nigeria?
Nigeria has approximately 22,681 registered filling stations nationwide according to NMDPRA data. This represents massive opportunity for FPW agents. With current coverage still growing, thousands of stations remain unlisted and available for recruitment across all 36 states.
What are current fuel prices in Nigeria?
As of December 2025: Petrol (PMS) ranges from ₦739/liter (MRS stations) to ₦980/liter depending on location and brand. NNPC sells at ₦785/liter in Lagos. Diesel (AGO) averages ₦950-₦1,410/liter. Kerosene (DPK) ranges ₦988-₦2,950/liter by state. Price variations create demand for FPW's transparency.
Why do stations need FPW?

What is the Dangote Refinery's impact on the market?
Dangote Refinery (650,000 bpd capacity, world's largest single-train refinery) has transformed Nigeria's fuel market since 2023. Key impacts: (1) Reduced fuel imports by 70%, (2) Created price competition with NNPC, (3) Dropped petrol from ₦1,200+ to ₦739/liter, (4) Made Nigeria cheapest in West Africa, (5) Increased supply stability.
